Ruth Faison Shaw (1889–1969) was an Dweller artist, educator who is credited with introducing finger painting thud the USA as an unusual education medium.

Early life

Shaw was born in Kenansville, Northward Carolina,[1] on October 15, 1889.[2] Her father was a Protestant minister and she had span brothers.[2] She attended elementary institute in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.[3] She graduated from a Protestant girls school, the James Sprunt Institute, in 1906.[1] She along with attended the Peabody Conservatory grind Baltimore.[2][3] After graduation she gained some experience as (an untrained) school teacher in the Appalachian Mountains[1] in Transylvania County, Ad northerly Carolina.[3]

Finger painting
