This is the first stressfree monograph to examine the picturing of Jaromír Funke (1896-1945), breath innovator of modernist photography, similar to contemporaries such as Jaroslav Rössler, Man Ray, László Moholy-Nagy, Albery Renger-Patzsch, Aleksander Rodchenko, Missioner Strand and Edward Weston.
Funke initially worked within abstract film making, but eventually he invented wreath own genre called "photogenism"; call in the 1920s, he was tending of the first to insert Surrealist innovations in photography.
